Fix Offline Printer Manually

The printer goes offline for a number of reasons:

• connectivity (cable),
• paper jam, out of paper,
• as well as various other hardware problems.

Sometimes the printer can also go offline because of a problem with the printer driver, which is corrupted or not installed.

You have to solve the problem that occurs with the printer first, then usually the printer status will automatically go online immediately. However, in some cases, you have to make it online manually.
Here's How to Fix an Offline Printer:

Solving Hardware / Software Problems

1. Make sure the cable is in good condition, and attach it properly

As I mentioned above, when your printer doesn't want to print, make sure the printer is on and check the printer cable. Damaged cables, whether cut or cut, bitten by rats, or age will prevent the printer from working.

Improper installation can also cause the same thing. For that, make sure the cable you plug in is in good condition and installed correctly.

2. Clean the pertinent paper

If when you are going to print using a printer, then a Paper Jam notification / warning appears, it means that there is paper or other objects that are stuck on the printer.

For that there is a little need to disassemble the printer to clean the related paper. If the paper is still rather large and not curled up in a mess, you can just try to pull it out. However, if the paper is difficult to remove, it's better to pry the lid a little, do not pry it.

3. Adding paper to the printer

Additional paper is required when an out of paper warning appears. Because it means the paper in the paper storage area on the printer has been used up. Usually this event is not detected if you are using a shared printer, which is in a different room.

If this warning appears, immediately go to the place where the printer is and reload the paper in the printer paper storage area.

4. Refilling printer ink

Just like running out of paper, depleted printer ink will also cause the printer to go offline. Because how can you print, when the ink runs out. For that you have to fill it back. We recommend that you do not get in the habit of filling ink only when the ink runs out.

Refill the ink again when the ink is at the limit and will run out, or before it is completely used up so as not to damage the cartridge.

5. Let the printer rest

Even though it is a machine, a printer can also experience "fatigue". If you are printing a large number of documents, you should give the printer some time to rest.

Do not force the printer to continue working, do the printing in stages. It could be that the printer will actually experience damage if you force the printer to work too hard. As a reference, usually the printer specifications state the maximum number of printer prints.

6. Update / reinstall the printer driver

As I also mentioned above, make sure the printer driver is installed. Then check if the printer requires an update diver.

If the problem turns out to be caused by a corrupted printer driver, you can fix it by reinstalling your printer driver.

7. Repair the printer

This is the last possibility that is expected to happen to your printer. Faulty printer hardware, either due to age or improper use, will certainly cause the printer to go offline.
For that you have to repair the printer first.

Changing Offline Printer Status To Online

After the problem with hardware or software is resolved, usually the printer status will automatically be online. But if that doesn't happen, you will have to change the status to online manually.

To be able to change it, you can access it via the control panel. In different versions of Windows, the location of the offline / online printer status on the control panel is also different. Here's how to change the offline printer status to online, on several versions of Windows.
