How to Fix and Repair Hairdyer

Hairdryer is a tool to dry your hair after bathing or shampooing. this tool is generally used personally by women, but it is also widely used in beauty salons, screen printing companies, printing photos, and others.

Over time this tool will experience a decrease in quality that is damaged in its components, other than that the damage can occur due to advanced age or the use of too often. before discussing how to fix a hair dryer it's good we know the parts of this tool and how it works.

• The tool cord wires into an electrical outlet

• fan speed control motor
• filament / winding heater

How Hair Dryer Works

• When the connecting cable is plugged into an electrical outlet the power goes into the speed control switch.
• If we press the speed control button then the electricity will flow from the connecting cable to the switch and then forwarded to the motor drive fan and filament (heating winding) then immediately spin the motor to move / rotate the fan, along with it then the filament will become hot due to electricity .
• By turning the fan and heating up the filaments, the air from the outside will be exhaled or pushed by the fan to pass through the aisle where the wall is surrounded by a hot filament, thus the air exhaled by the fan will be pushed out in heat due to being heated by the filament.
• When the speed control button is in the low position then the rotation of the fan motor is on the slow rotation so that the exhaled air is less.
• When the motor speed switch is in the hight position then the fan spin will be faster so that the hot air will be exhaled more. so on and the fan and filament will work together when the motor speed control button on the on position.

Symptoms of damage that often occur in Hair dryer:

• Totally dead
• The fan does not spin but the appliance feels hot
• the fan was spinning but the hair dryer was not hot
• The fan spun but the air money out was not hot

How to test a hair dryer using AVO meter

1. Total death
This may be caused by a disconnected power cord or a cable coming into the detachable speed switch. Check the connecting cables physically there may be a break due to bitten rats.

Or check with AVO meter RX1Kohm, if you do not have AVO meter at home then you can use tespen instead, by opening the hair dryer body until it looks all the parts then insert the connecting cable into the socket.

Attach the end of the tespen to each connector inside, mark the part that can not turn on the tespen, already meet the damaged immediately repair with the appropriate components.

2. The fan does not spin but the appliance feels hot
This can happen because the fan motor drive damage occurs, it may be a carbon brush that has run out or winding on the motor burning.

Carbon brush is a connector that connects the cable with the motor to rotate.

Carbon brush can run out due to rub against the motor that is always moving.

3. The fan spins but the hair dryer is not hot
This is caused by the filament / winding of the broken heater, when the winding off immediately replace with a new one.

4. Round of hair dryer is not normal, such as halting or slow
There are two possibilities when it happens:

• carbon brush that is thin
• For a thin carbon brush can replace it with the appropriate.
